Trump Responds to Guilty Verdict with Attacks and False Claims
Former President Donald Trump on Friday sought to relitigate several aspects of his recent criminal trial, making false claims and attacking the judge and jury.
Trump, who was found guilty of hush money payments to two women during the 2016 presidential campaign, spoke to reporters outside Trump Tower in New York City. He repeated his claims that the election was stolen from him, that the trial was a "witch hunt," and that the jury was biased against him.
Trump's comments come as he faces mounting legal challenges. He is currently under investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney's office for possible tax fraud and other financial crimes. He is also facing a civil lawsuit from the New York Attorney General's office alleging that he defrauded donors to his charitable foundation.
In addition, Trump is facing a criminal investigation by the Fulton County District Attorney's office in Georgia for his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in that state.
Despite the legal challenges, Trump has remained defiant. He has continued to hold rallies and make public appearances, and he has teased the possibility of running for president again in 2024.
It remains to be seen whether Trump's legal troubles will derail his political ambitions. However, his recent comments suggest that he is not backing down from the fight.
