Auburn Extends Lavish Contract to Liberty Coach Hugh Freeze

Deal Worth $65 Million Annually over Eight Years

Buyout Compensation to Liberty for $3 Million

Hugh Freeze, the newly appointed head football coach for Auburn University, has inked a lucrative eight-year contract worth $65 million annually, according to details released by the university. Freeze was officially named the Tigers' head coach on Monday.

Freeze's contract stipulates a base salary of $65 million over the eight-season period, which equates to $8.125 million per year. However, the contract also includes incentives that could potentially increase his earnings to just under $10 million annually. Nevertheless, sources indicate that it is unlikely Freeze will meet all the criteria for these incentives.

As part of the hiring process, Auburn will also be obligated to pay Liberty University approximately $3 million as a buyout fee for releasing Freeze from his previous coaching contract. This payment serves as compensation for the remaining years of Freeze's contract at Liberty.

Freeze's contract with Auburn is a significant investment in the university's football program, reflecting their high hopes for his leadership and impact on the team's performance. The Tigers will be eager to witness Freeze's coaching prowess in the upcoming seasons and anticipate that his expertise will elevate their program to new heights.
